I wanted to give you all a little update for QS #2.

The course is awesome. We debated (in our club) about wanting to keep our new course private...you know just for club members, because it is so much fun to ride! Then we decided it just wouldn't be right to be so selfish. ash:

Ok so here we are....
We have 3 more weekends and I have to say we have some outstanding plans for this race. The course is almost ready, just a few more finishing touches. From the T-shirt layouts to the trophies and the plaques, and don't forget the prizes that will be given away at the riders meeting...Our sponsers have been VERY generous to us, lets just say SOME of the prizes will more than pay for your entry fees!!!

SWFTR is pulling out all the stops for this QS! We've planned for this one to be the best race of the season!!! One you don't want to miss!!!

Some info on the property:
The gates will open at 12:00 on Friday and will close at 10:00pm. If you happen to get there after 10:00 pm you can park in the parking lot across the street. Jack will catch up to you in the AM. The gate fee is $10 for the weekend.

Family Day Sunday or Do what you want day!!!

For things to do on Sunday, there is Billie Swamp Safari Park behind the paved parking lot. They have a zoo there that lets you see some of the critters that are wondering around in Big Cypress. They are impressive!!!

You can eat at the Swamp Water Cafe. The food there is pretty good. If you want, you can go on a swamp buggy ride or an airboat ride, those are available for $20. Also, for those that like to gamble The Big Cypress Casino is open, it's on your Right as you come into the Reservation, right next to the abandoned Bingo building that Hurricaine Wilma tried to destroy.

For those of you that prefer not to tent it, Billie Swamp does have Chickee cabins you can purchase for the night, get there early though as they tend to sell out. Singles that sleeps 2 is $35, Dorm style that sleeps 12 is $60. There are bathrooms and showers there for you to utilize too.

Of course if you're not too sore, you can stay and ride on Sunday, that's up to you! You will have to get with Jack for entry as it will be business as usual for him. Track fees are $20 for the SX & the MX Trails only are $20 or Track & Trails $25. Those fees are for ALL DAY riding!!

Hope to see you there!!!

Woo-Hoo!! Sandy!, I am really excited, as usual, to ride. I know you all have been working very hard to host this event. I really think it is one of favorites overall. FTR cuts those woods courses Seminole has. When they are new, they are awesome. I know after time they get beat up, but thats a given.
So anyone looking at some fresh trail, Let's go racing!!

Sandy, some MX guys are wondering if ithe woods part is too narrow for them?
Fred, I need it too. One month without being able to ride :(

Mudnuri, I think it is Sandy you are trying to talk to, and I need to ride too, it has been over 3 weeks, I think I might be able to put my helmet back on this weekend or next at the latest so im looking forward to some practice....

Some of the trails at Seminole are put together by a couple of good old boys that are local to the area and work with Jack. Most of the trails used now are old FTR race trails, some are cut in by these guys and some are local trails. Some of these trails were made by SWFTR (our club) and some were made by SEFTR. The members of the clubs are what is a part of FTR as a whole.

We all do this for fun! Some would say we are NUTS! I personally, get more riding in while cutting in trail than I do practicing any day of the week. How many can boast putting in 6 to 8 hours on their quad in a day? Talk about a great workout and maximum seat time!! I'll do this over going to the gym anyday!!!

Anyway......Here's a little history lesson for you.

When we lost our Clewiston property so abruptly last year, only weeks before the 1st QS. We worked with Jack and the Seminole Tribe to put in what was for last year. Mind you last years race was VERY hastily put together, We really did'nt have a choice. There were SO many obstacles thrown into the mix that many didn't think we would do it! Understand our club is a SMALL club, but we pulled together & busted nine kinds of #%* and pulled it off, not once, but twice. That was really tough to do and couldn't have been done without the determination & total committment from our members.

So this year, to make up for last year, we spent EVERY summer weekend possible cutting this in and we, SWFTR as a group are very proud of this one!!!

These are VIRGIN woods! For some it may be kind of spooky in there, all dank and dark and thick, and oh so technical! Just remember when you dip into the woods and you make that final right turn into the deepest, darkest part, take it slow (in practice), look around and don't ever forget how priceless this ride is gonna be! Woods like these can only be found down here in the DEEP SOUTH.

Brian, as far as the trails being too tight, we ran a 700 Grizzly & a 700 Polaris through them and they made it alright...although they had to "pick their lines" a little more carefully than I did on my yfz450. Tell those MX guys to stop shakin in their boots and come on out and have some real fun!!!

Let them know there are many alternate lines in there, so it will really test their trailracing skills! For instance: First in line may go left or right and 2nd does the opposite, or the middle line, now you can't see them, are they still ahead of you? Or did they sink in the mud? Or WORSE, did they mistakenly take Suicide run? Or did you?...only split seconds to make your choice...so many choices...Who is getting out of the woods first?

Someone once told me....

When it comes to the deep woods...sometimes you are faster when you are slower!

:) Sandy

For any of you that are NOT able to race this race, remember if you work a race you can get a work run credit equal to your best race of the season.

We can still use more course workers!

You must sign up for the work run credit BEFORE practice!! If you run practice you CAN NOT receive the work credit. Also, there is NO charge to work the race.

Please let me know ahead of time so I can coordinate appropriatly.

Thanks,

Sandy:p

Well, I got blind-sided by the wife this afternoon. After telling me all month her grandmother's party was Sunday, I found out it is Saturday at 3:00, at our house, just as I should have been starting my run. I won't be racing but will be out in the morning for my son to race in Super PeeWee. Hey Mud! For the right price I've got a pretty slick 660R that would love to run on Sunday... +2 Laeger's with TCS LT shocks, Douglas Shamrock w/Holeshot GNCC upfront and TCS rear shock upgrade and Blackwaters in back for the mud I heard was going to be out there. Only 47 inches wide... eyebrows: Just kidding. After my pathetic showing at QS1 I was looking to redeem myself at QS2. I'll have to start making plans for one of the HS or QS4. QS3 is already a no-go.

Thanks diggin'. You'd be a fool to let me ride it! :)
I don't know what the heck is going on with the schedule anymore? I know there is a race this weekend and after that? I think the benifit HS 11/18. Then the QS#3 in Myakka City 12/2
But I just don't know for sure.

well...i have to see the doc again in a month to see how i am getting around....my options are, ACL replacement surgery (from a cadaver achilles tenden) or if i can get around decent i can go with a stabilzation brace....brace = no surgery, but also means i will be wondering around with a torn ACL and he suggested that i give up racing quads :( ....jury is still out on that

and thanks Jen for the kinds words....

I had to go to the Dr. on the 1st of Nov. He told me the same thing to hang up the ATVing. Then had the nerve to remind me I was about to turn 40. I told him I would simply switch to the Senior class!
Seriously, you have to think ahead when you are not racing anymore and consider the pain you may be in. Probably not worth it since this is supposed to be just for fun.
But the thought of having some dead guys' anything creeps me out
Heal up with the brace and maybe no surgery?! God bless
