Have you ever been to or seen a swamp buggy race?

Yes I have been to a few down in naples. I know some folks who run in the jeep class. Its fun to watch. Jon

Well then, thats exactly how the race looked, it was like racing in a 8 mile long canal. It started raining at the beginning of the 3:30 race and it stopped right as the race was over. I would guess it rained between 4-6 in. in that amount of time. It was crazy.

I was wondering where you were going with that. Well I dont feel so bad about missing that one, but I do feel bad for all that had to race in unfavorable conditions. How did you do? Was it super muddy or just wet ? Was there a good turn out? Jon

Jon, I am sorry you could not make it. It was different for sure, but I wold have raced in the Rain, Sleet , or Snow!! Okay, maybe not the sleet and we sure don't get any snow.
If the rain had of waited for just one more hour, that track would have held up pretty good. Like Chill' said-It was CRAZY! and I loved it!

Hi Brian, I knew you were gonna have fun no matter what as always. I wonder if anyone got any pics. How was the track in the morning and early afternoon? Oh and how did you do? Jon

The track was slicker than snot in the morning practice. That was from being virgin and the morning dew.
I can't say how it was for the 1:30 races. I can tell you for the 3:30 races the skies opened up 15 minutes before the start. Nobody complained. We sucked it up and figured it would stop pretty soon. Well that didn't happen. It rained even harder after the start. It was so slick and my I-Razr's are so worn out, I just spun and spun and spun.
I don't know how I finished because I pulled off, okay I quit, after three laps. It was so slick now that I could have run faster than I could get that ATV going. I have too much at stake to ruin my quad for the pride behind the wood. I am just a bug man living a dream thanks in part to Mark Taylor. He takes me with him to most every race and will not take a penny for fuel. Heck, sometimes he feeds me.
There are others that help me feed my addiction, but I'll tell you, Mark has by far been the one who has enabled me to have these opportunities. He doesn't surf the net or do the forums like I do so it's not like I'm sucking up. He really does have a great deal to do with my being at these events.
The raffle before the race was classic SWFTR. Sandy Ostrike-blueplatespecial, and her club did a great job. It was not their fault it rained.
Thanks to all who worked it in the rain!!
