Well just got word that my motor will not be done by this weekend. So if anyone has a extra 400 ex motor sitting around let me know cause I sure would like to race this weekend.

Just seems like more I try the worse things get.

Ok well supposibly they will have it done now by tomorrow. Anyone know the CORRECT way to break one in?

I was always told run it about med speed for 30 min, let cool down run it again for 30 min, let cool down. Then run it for 1 hour hard then change the oil. And should be good to go.

Sounds good to me...
I know with a 2 stroke I did it different I got it hot for about 5 minutes then put a fan on it and did that 6 times and shes good to go.
Hey if they dont get it done for some reason.
I have a yzf you can use. But its bone stock right now.

I tried to check sparksracing.com they have a technical answers to questions like that, but that part of the web-site is down. I'm sure most engine builders would tell you. You could call curtis sparks or FTZ racing both are excellent engine builders and they should be able to tell you even though they didn't build the engine.
For a two stroke is: Run at idle for 5 min. let cool. Run for 15 min. in neutral at verious RPM's. Then retorq the head and jug. Check coolant. Then take it on the track and practice with it but not real hard. let cool retorq the bolts & check coolant. This is where it differs... Some people say run it hard because if you don't now it will not brake the rings in the way you race it. hmmm.... Other people have said to just go through another practice session and heat races but not pushing it too hard. Then race it and win.
For a four stroke I'd do the same except probably change oil after the first easy practice.
