Flat out haul arse race! Here is my story..
12 guys in my class. Im last in the holeshot. Quad wouldnt start.
I take off and pass 2 guys right in the first 1/10th of mile.
Then what seemed like a blown engine in the first half mile I pull over and look everything over. My header pipe came off. There were no springs there!
I kick it back on with my boot and go back to the trailer where I had spare springs. By the time I get them on all the classes had taken off. I take off and rode the fastest I ever have.
I came up to the women got by them then started to pick each of the "C" and "B" riders off. I caught 3 of my guys from my class and passed them.
Then came Taylor Kiser then came Rogers about 5 minutes behind him. Then it was all over.
I ended up 8th. Not bad for being my first lap was 28 minutes..:(

well i got 5th but not because i earned it.I had a bad day, made alot of mistakes and just never got my head into the race. I gave up and cruised the last lap and almost lost a spot.but theres always next time.
How did everyone else do?

Congrats Phil

See Jen got 4th and Joe Kirkland got 4th in Vet. Mark(sandbagger) got 3rd.

Results are posted already.

I take it Joey Stankus didn't make it.

I miss racing but come beginning of the year I hope to be back out there.

Yep. I ended up with a 3rd. Nick "Spunky" ended up waxing the open C class. It was a good race. Allot of wide-open areas and some real tight woods sections. Had a good time.

Sorry for the late reply but my computer has gotten hit by some kind of Spam ware and I have yet to get rid of it all. (what a pain in the a$$)

Looking Forward to the next one

Yeah, I got 4th. I guess it is good...I had some issues again in the the first lap....

I was 4th or 5th on the start...made my way to second and was somewhere near the cow pin. Well, my bike decided it wanted to shut off. By the time I realized it was my ignition wire (AgAiN) The Vet and Senior classes had passed me. So, I rode well and worked my way through those classes and finished 4th.

I think Phil has "cured" my ignition wire...LoL!!!!!!!!!! He promised it would NEVER come undone again :D

Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't able to make it to this one. Between final exams coming up and being sick, I really didn't want to push it. From what I heard it was a real wide open track, the old 400ex would have gotten smoked at this track, so I guess I picked a good one to skip. Won't be at the sweetwater race, will be in Durmahtown Plantation in GA doing some riding that weekend. Well happy turkey day to everyone.

Hey Doug,
sorry about not getting back to ya Sat. after the race.....knowing that I was one place away from getting wood, I packed up and Hauled ass home got a shower and some clothes on and went to St. Pete. to see Alter Bridge in concert at Jannus Landing....ya probably know already but ALter Bridge is Creed with a new singer..... and He's much better than Scott Stapp....
it was a super show....
ANyhooo,
got a great start, 2nd behind Jim Liles and followed him for a few turns and moved into the lead...... felt really good, relaxed and felt like I was ridng pretty fast...... lead a pretty big portion of the first lap till we found a "B" guy ( hey isnt that your class ) turned sideways in the trail...... so me and the rest of those fast Vets. had to sit there while he got unhung......so he got free'd up and pulled off so we could go on by.....we blasted out of the woods and a few miles into another tight woods section.... and guess what????? another "B" guy hung up in the trees, ( Hey DOug, you dont do that do ya???) but this time there were 2 lines to get around him... and I picked the crappy one, Jim and I think Roy took the good line, so they got me there.... and I had to play catch up from there.... think I passed Roy once and later he got me back....... so long story short...... had 3rd sewed up and made a goof on the last lap...... thought some really fast guy was on my ass...... and I waved him by....... it was Willis Pledger who is in my class...... he drove by and I was like NO WAY!!!!!!! I just forfeited the wood. (Vet. went back 3 places with wood)... SO thats my race report..... Felt really good, felt fast and had a great time....... Ooops., I didnt mean that Willis wasnt a fast guy, he's plenty fast...... He's another one of those fast freakin Vet. guys.. Its great to ride in a class that challenges ya...... I think I made a good choice by riding Vet.
Congrats to all who made it to the end.....It was great to see you all........ Cant wait till Sweetwater........ Take Care
And Have a Great Holiday........
Later

P.S. Hey Roy, sorry I didnt get a chance to meet ya on Sat. Mark and Paul said they would introduce us at the trophy presentation but as my post states, I was trying to get to St. Pete. to a concert... I think we passed each other once or twice out there...... You were cooking man...... Hope we can meet each other at the next round..... Take care and good job Sat......

Joe,

Good thing your not are reliable reporter. Almost a week after the race. SHEEEESH!!!! Your fired HAHA!

Congrats on the finish. I see by the Sandbagger report your lap times where with the A and AA riders so yes its a good thing you road the Vet class.

As for those "B" guys getting stuck well. I have only been stuck sideways once and WE ALL KNOW WHO WAS BEHIND ME THEN (JEN) but that was last year. Now her butt is in front of me so I dont have to worry about her yelling at me, until she's lapping me.

Getting things fired off with ATK after turkey days so if you know of any dealers down your way that would be interested let me know. I am mainly going to hit North Florida, GA, and SC. But they dont have set areas so I can go anywhere that someone is interested.

This new 450 ATK is nice. They have fixed the bugs and are offering contingency for several of the series (YES FTR). They are really trying to step up there presence and put out a top quality product.

Hey Doug,
thanks for the congrats man...... Sure wish you'd have been able to make it to the races WITH a quad.......Hope the ATK thing works out for ya man....
If I can think of any dealers down this way I'll def. let ya know.. Hey hows the website doing...... ya gonna put some ATK's on there.....
Yea, I guess I need to re-evaluate my priorities.... but I had to go see that show....... man, they freakin rocked....... Had every intention of posting when I got home after the show but... well, long day at the track...... long ride to the show and back..... it was late and I was draggin my arse............. So I'll ask to be forgiven for my selfishness......... lol..... I promise I'll do better (reporting) next time.....
Hey bro, if ya need any test riders for those ATK's let me know.....
Later Man,
Joe
