Before I start I need to put this disclaimer in: "This article no way reflects or is the same of opinion of Roy Jernberg, this is solely my opinion." I had to do that to stop the poisen emails from the FTR Officals who read this site. Well guys and girls whether you like it or not there is going to be a Quad Series next year, this proposal was made at the last Board of Directors meeting and passed. Typical FTR garbage "secret meetings" and "secret decisions" affecting the membership. Personally the way the proposal is setup, the Quads will still be a part of the HS Series, they will have an additional series on top of that, and that is way cool considering you will be able to run a supposed 24 races next season. The problem, lies here, the classes, the rules, etc. were made by "dirt bike racers" not Quad Racers. You would think that if they were serious about this series at least some type of homework and decision with your Quad Rep would have been helpful. Telling me in pits at a race is not the same. You guys really need to be at the HS meeting and step up and voice your opinion, not in anger, express it professionally. Just because they choose not to be that doesn't mean you have to be. FTR politics will never change, and that is obvious from the last election only 73 voted for the entire organization. Oh I'm sorry it was because of the hurricanes, oh and the balllot box was there, but just not in plain site, oops my ignorance. Just wanted you to know that decisions are being made once again without real research and understanding as what the Quad racers as a whole would like to see in a "true" Quad series.

So we are goin to have 2 series? A quad only and quads with the other H/S?

I belive it was made and the quads would have only a seperate series.

What is Roy opinion on this all. What have the racers said to him. He is still are quad rep right?

As far as the rules I think some tweaks need to be made. Maybe at the next H/S (GATORBACK) we should have a quad meeting. So we get things out in the air and get a guidline to go by. I am not racing but I should be there. I know majority of other quads make this race.

Or we can set up a one night chat room session. I have a chat board or I belive Mark can start one or even the FTR might have one.

I confused? So there is going to be a regular hare scramble series and quad series together? Also they voted on a proposal? Didn't here about any of this. I didn't know Roy was at the Chipley race I was going to see what was going on. Must have must ya'll.

I talked to serveral riders about a new FTR Quad series, most thought it would be nice, but many feel we will get the short end of the deal, less races, no new land to ride or not get to ride what most of the bikes will be riding. I heard maybe a possiblity of ten races? Also would all of the clubs be interested in holding a event? It just seems like a sceme to get quads out of the HS series, if not why wasn't there a meeting to inform the people of the possible changes or to find out if we want our own series? Its like a big secret. Hopefully there will be a quad meeting at the next race to clear up the confusion?

We were not at Chipley, although I heard the track was really neat. I received a telephone call from one of the Area Reps after this Board of Directors meeting informing of me of this decision. This is not a Hare Scramble issue this is a membership issue. And first part has already been done the BOD did approve it. It deals with changing more than classes or rules, this deals with having a totally new series. Personally, I think there are clubs that would really like to have two races, maybe 10 or maybe 3, I heard only 3 clubs were willing. But that's a he said she said thing. I believe a meeting is imparative to have before the next HS meeting. Remember this is not a HS issue, before this can become totally excepted a certain percentage of the total FTR membership will need to approve this at the annual meeting in August. Should you be concerned? Yes, remember Roy is only one person, and as far as I know he was not consulted nor asked of what or how this should start. Oh, and for you FTR executives, you asked several people about this to head it up and none of them have never raced a quad, although they were not against them. Putting on an event is not the same as heading up a series.

Hey Yall,

Sorry I have not been too verbal. I have been tied up with life lately.
My wife can be so direct. No beating around the bush with her. I know about as much about the Quad Series as most of you. If anyone does know something, please post it so others may know. It would be a shame if dirt bike guys plan a quad series and no quad racers were involved. I hope many of you will get involved if you get the chance. I do not have the time to do it right now.
Not to sound negative, but I have been telling many of you to get involved for quite some time. My wife made a point about this years FTR election. 73 people, plus or minus a few, voted in the election. We have more quad racers at each event than this. Some area director positions were decided with less than 5 votes. The more people who get together and vote, the more you will have a say in YOUR organization. I hope you do not forget this during next years election.
This proposed quad series could be something all of you may be looking for. Those involved need to offer those affected information and a chance to be part of this. Please, please, step up and help make it work.
On the FTR websight, I posted something about a discussion after the Saturday riders meeting. I do not know what will come about this. If I am not mistaken, Mike P. is heading this series proposal up. Maybe he can give all of us some information.

Mike P. here.

Yes I wrote a proposal. No one else had the cahones to do what has been needed so a lowly (thanks Karen:cool: ) dirtbiker decided to start what could be one of the premier Quad only woods Series in the nation.
Contrary to some misguided beliefs there were no secret meetings. Just one person, me, that took it upon myself solely to see if there was any interest. Did I consult with any Quad riders? Only every one I could get to listen over the last several years, including the many Quad racers from my own local club that have been fielding this possibility for years.
I suggested this very concept to Doug Parker a couple of years ago, he took another direction and we all know what happened to that. There could have already been a series up and running by now.
What has been done so far is that a proposal was brought forward by me at the most recent FTR Board of Directors, of which several are Quad racers, meeting for consideration. It was unanimously accepted as a viable proposal and will now be published in meeting minutes so that the entire FTR membership can read, comment, and give feedback to their Area Directors and the FTR Executive Committee as to what they think about the proposal. After everyone has been given an opportunity to comment it will be put back on the agenda for the May 21, 2005 Board of Directors meeting to be voted as to whether or not the proposal is to be accepted. If it passes that test it will then go to the FTR General membership meeting at the annual FTR Awards Banquet for final approval.

If all of that happens it will set dates to have possible events. So far at least 4 existing FTR clubs have expressed a desire to hold an event.

*This proposal in NO WAY affects the existing Hare Scrambles format at this time *

Calling this process "Typical FTR garbage" is pure bull#@*t and is typical of those that don't, or refuse, to understand what it takes to make racing happen anywhere.

You can be a part of something that could be great or you can sit by and watch.

Mike, we all know who has the biggest cahones! I am truly sorry if I offended you. Like I said the proposal for a Quad series will only benefit the Quad racers. I just thought a Quad racer would have a little more insight to what a true Quad series would have to offer. As for pointing the finger and stating "secret meetings and secret decision" is because of the fact we have received several posts for the official site of the FTR, that should rattle a few cages, referred to the Quads, and most were extremely negative and even brutal. Were you a part of this, no. Why when someone gets involved with Quads, they are continually called whiners, complainers, etc. and the ones that do get involved they only verbally attacked, and you know this is true. Is this excuse? No, even if this happens the Quad racers need to press forward. Thank you for stepping up and creating this proposal, I know this took a lot of time and effort on your part. Your hard work is appreciated. Again, I am truly sorry if you took this personally. Hopefully you will be able to take sometime at the next race and speak to the racers and explain the proposal, you may be surprised how receptive they may be. Thank you for stepping up.
